Absolutly THE best burger I have ever had!! Super friendly service, and the pie was amazing! A must stop if you are passing thru!

Great Burger!

I had lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy.A sign said to seat yourselfand I sat down in a booth near the back. After a short wait, I ordered the grilled chicken without the pepper jack cheesewith a salad and ice tea.The order arrived in about fifthteen minutes. The bun was toasted with mayo and had chicken, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce.A great tasting sandwich with a leafy green salad. The server checked in on me several times and refilled my iced tea.She asked me if I wanted pie and pointed to a board with a large selection. I selected peach pie to go. The pie had a great crust and the peaches were firm without an overwhelming amount of sugar.I would recommend this cafe near the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds.

Great little cafe. Food is tasty and the prices are afordable. Only issue was a lack of dairy free options.

Had steak dinner and marion-berry pie. Steak was much more flavorful than most - notably better. Can recommend the pie also. The food at other tables looked good also. I'd stop again if ever in the area.

Great family run business. The food was delicious. I had cheddar broccoli soup, salad and cherry pie. The other person at my table had a chicken salad. The food was fresh and homemade. We will go back every chance we get

Place looked nice and clean. Unfortunately, their website shows it open, but sign on the door says they're closed till February 1st. The Mercantile across the street was also nice and friendly.

Such a nice place to stop and have a meal. Stopped by for breakfast on my way to the fossil beds and it was wonderful.

Get place to stop and stretch plus they have a nice liquor selection. Love the live music they have on occasion sung by some locals.

The food was good and the service was folksy. Just what I would expect from a small town cafe.

The food was amazing! The pie list alone, when I saw it, rivals even the biggest restaurant chains! It is impressive. They are delicious too! Wouldn't be surprised that they don't end up on a top 10 best places to eat in Oregon. 😁 Can't wait to travel over for a bite to eat again! Bought a cool Sasquatch decoration there too. They have local artist art for sale as well!

This cafe is nothing too fancy, but the food is consistently awesome! They also have an exceptionally personable wait staff.

Several of us came here for breakfast. Corned beef hash was good, french toast very good, sausage tasted good, eggs done perfectly, even the poached eggs. Chicken fried steak had great breading, but was a little tough. Portions are large, noone leaves here hungry. Staff friendly with a good sense of humor. Bought a cherry pie to go... we will see how good the pie is tonight :)

We were told they make great pies, so we stopped in to buy one. We bought the peach-blueberry-raspberry pie to take back to our campground. While we were waiting for the pie, a server walked out of the kitchen with a couple of plates of hamburgers and fries that looked so good that we were sorry we'd already had lunch. We had some of the pie after dinner. So good! We're just traveling through, but won't forget the pie - and may very well plan another trip to this part of Oregon for a stop at Dayville Cafe, this time for lunch, too!

Great food, large portions and literally the only place to eat in 50 miles. Ownwr is looking to sell, very small place but worth the stop!

Outstanding! This might be a fly thru town, but this is definitely a stop you'll want to make! The food was delicious, portions top notch, prices were fair and the server was witty to boot! Not really hungry, get the pie! There's a board full pie flavors, including your Grandma's strawberry-rhubarb (brings back memories). Local favorite so be ready to wait a few minutes...it's worth it too!

Absolutely the best pie in the area and the people are super friendly. Also the best potato salad I've ever had in my life if you like it tart and tangy. The gorge burger is divine! Dripping egg all over ham and beef. Yummy!

Their burgers are the best (I believe they use local, grass-fed beef as they do with their steaks) and they give you enough fries to feed a small army. Charming site, beautiful porch for eating out in summer. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Great customer service. Very personable and friendly.

Great small town cafe with good food. Always wanted to stop on the way through town and this time we did. No regrets we will not hesitate to make it a future food stop. Had the Monte Cristo and it was as good as any I have had and worth going back for. Servers were quick and friendly even though they were completely full. Stop by if your going though Dayville and at least enjoy a piece of great homemade pie or dive in and sample their well rounded menu.

The food was great, so was the service. The locals, out of towners, plus the travelers seem to really like the food. Must try THE PIES, they are great!

Just wanted to say that yesterday my sister picked up a peach, blueberry and raspberry pie. It is the best berry pie hands down that I have ever had. Keep up the good work. Thank you 😊

If you drive through town and don’t stop for pie, you’re ruining a perfectly good vacation.

Had a breakfast, a lunch, and a dinner - all very good and the pies are fantastic.

Food is okay service was rude and incompetent. They are the only restaurant in town so unless you are willing to drive you're stuck.

We ended up arriving about 30 minutes before they close, but the staff was amazingly accommodative and very friendly! It took about 10 minutes for our food to be done, my boyfriend got the Baja burger, I got the buffalo chicken salad, and our son got the cheese quesadilla with fries off the kids menu. If you're driving through, skip John Day and come here! The food was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be making specific trips to have lunch or dinner here.

This place is a legit gem! The servers are super helpful, nice and funny. Food is delicious. We got a breakfast sandwich and was a bit skeptical of it being served in a biscuit, afraid with would taste too dry. But oh boy were we wrong! The biscuit was baked from scratch and to perfection, it ended up being one of the best sandwiches we ever had. It was so good, we ordered a side biscuit to go. By eye balling other tables plates, portion sizes were generous for the price. They are also famous for their pies, and we tried the peanut butter one. I was not a fan (too sweet for my taste), but my husband approved it :)

Dayville cafe is a cozy small cafe roadside across from great mercantile that has all you need on a trip..pit stop. Was great service alecie was a fun server...we will definitely stop again when we come back through..Food was awsome..philly blt french dip mush burger turkey melt were all wonderful also best momma fries like at the fair..Thank you your Cruise Idaho 2019 friends..The Family :)

Damn good food and great people

This ended up being a last minute stop on our way to Lebanon, Oregon. We are on our way to hike the PCT. We had actually driven through this small town but then decided to turn around and eat here. I enjoy going to small cafes. The food always seems better. I ate the BLT with avocado. Delicious! Fries were fresh and homemade. My daughter had a French Dip and fries. She enjoyed that as well. Service was friendly and quick. We day outside on the deck and enjoyed the decent warm weather. We had actually arrived just in time to watch 14 Ferraris pull in. One was already there. Ferrari Club of America doing a 1000 mile tour. What a treat to see all of those cars! We visited on August 1, 2018.

Just face it, AMAZING food!! Another thing I like about Dayville Cafe is the fact that they don't have TV's playing and no loud music. Overall a VERY nice place. And the Gorge burger has become a family favorite of ours( you should give it a try, you won't be dissapointed)

What a treasure. Stopped in on a trip across Oregon for coffee and pie. Hubby had marionberry, I had rhubarb, both were delicious.

This place was amazing! Jalapeño Apple pie to die for.. And the carrot cake even better!

Lovely staff. excellent tasty meals and pies . I recommend the apple caramel and jalapeno pie and the peach jalapeno pie.
